🧸Our Bears:

The Bears have been strong at Soldier Field, holding a 2-1 home record this season. After a narrow 27-24 loss to Minnesota in Week 1, they responded with convincing wins over Dallas (31-14) and New Orleans (26-17). With the weather turning colder and confidence rising, the Bears are starting to make Soldier Field a tough place to play again.

Last week was a much needed game for quarterback Caleb Williams, who bounced back in a big way last week after two quiet outings. Williams, who had thrown no touchdowns and three interceptions over his previous two games, finally broke through with a sharp performance in Cincinnati, restoring some confidence just as the Bears head into a crucial home game.

A huge part of that resurgence has come from the ground game. Chicago’s rushing attack has been dominant lately, averaging 186.5 yards per game over the last two weeks  including a season-high 283 yards in last Sunday’s victory over the Bengals. That balance has opened up the playbook and helped keep opposing defenses off-balance.

The Bears will face the Giants at just the right time, a banged-up team that seems to be heading in the wrong direction. New York’s defense has sprung leaks in recent weeks, allowing 33 points to the Broncos, 38 to the Eagles, and 34 to the 49ers — all teams that scored two touchdowns or more above their season averages. It’s been a brutal stretch for the Giants, who are struggling to slow anyone down as of late.  It sets up well for a Bears offense that’s gaining confidence and rhythm behind Caleb Williams and the surging run game.

🗽 The New York Football Giants:

Giants are  in a Tailspin! The Giants (2–7) have struggled in all three phases offense, defense, and special teams over the past month. Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart has shown flashes of potential, but he’s lacked consistent help. Against the 49ers, Dart passed for 191 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for another 56 yards and a score. On the season, he’s totaled 1,175 passing yards, 10 touchdowns, three interceptions, and a 93.9 passer rating, while also adding 195 rushing yards and four more TDs in his last five games.

However, the Giants’ offense has been one-dimensional since rookie running back Cam Skattebo went down with an ankle injury, limiting the team’s ability to control tempo and sustain drives.

Missing Cam Skattebo and Malik Nabers has taken its toll on this offense. Without their top playmakers, the Giants have struggled to generate explosive plays and sustain drives. That puts added pressure on Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Devin Singletary to carry the load on the ground — and on Dart to make plays with his legs — if New York hopes to stay competitive in the cold, nasty Chicago weather this Sunday.

Defensively, Woof the Giants are not good! Only three teams in the NFL are giving up more total yards per game than the Giants. On this of the ball, New York has been a major liability, ranking in the bottom 10 defensive DVOA. The Giants are surrendering 150 rushing yards per game and 5.5 yards per carry, while also giving up 231.1 passing yards and 1.7 passing touchdowns per game to opposing quarterbacks.

They’ve also struggled mightily away from home, going 0–5 on the road with a 109–158 point differential. While they’ve managed to stay competitive in Dallas and Denver, they’ve been beaten decisively in Washington (15 points), New Orleans (12 points), and Philadelphia (18 points) during their last three road trips.

The Giants allow the 10th-most passing yards per game (232.1), and now they’ll have to deal with Caleb Williams, who returns home fresh off one of his best performances of the season in Cincinnati.

💪Key Matchups:

Caleb Williams’ confidence: Can he build off his best game in weeks? The weather could be a major factor in numbers this week!

The Bears’ ground game: Will it continue to dominate against a struggling Giants front?

Jaxson Dart’s mobility/posie: Can the rookie keep the Giants’ offense moving in tough weather conditions? Bears front 7 missing TJ will have to remain disciplined in their assignments.

🔮The Prediction

This matchup had the potential to be one of the more entertaining games on the NFL slate this week, but season-ending injuries to Cam Skattebo and Malik Nabers have taken much of the spark out of the Giants’ offense. Without his top playmakers, Jaxson Dart simply doesn’t have the firepower to fully challenge a Chicago Bears defense that, while improving, has still allowed 20 passing touchdowns and an average of 5.1 yards per carry to opposing offenses this season.

To my point, the Giants seem to have lost whatever momentum they built earlier in the season following that crushing loss to the Broncos and the season-ending injury to Cam Skattebo. Their struggles continued last week, when Christian McCaffrey gashed the defense for 173 total yards, exposing a unit that simply can’t stop the run or contain playmakers in space.

Oddsmakers haven’t shown the Bears much respect this season; this marks just the third time they’ve been favored, but the matchup heavily tilts in their favor. With a red-hot rushing attack, a confident Caleb Williams, and a defense looking to rebound from a horrid performance last week, Chicago should have no trouble covering the spread against an injury-depleted and directionless Giants team. Take the Bears to cover the 4.5
